Chapter 1:
The man God uses – Oswald J. Smith:
The author narrated his crave for the use by God and how he has prayed for God’s revelation for the pre-requisite and conditions to be met to be greatly used of God.
He narrated these conditions under the following headings.
A vision of the utter Bankruptcy of the Human Race.
A realization of the Adequacy of God’s salvation.
A life given over to one Great purpose.
A life from which every hindrance has been Removed
A life placed absolutely at God’s Disposal.
A ministry of Prevailing prayer
A ministry saturated with the word of God.
A ministry with a vital message for a lost world.
A ministry in the Anointing of the Holy Spirit.
A ministry Characterized by the Expectancy of faith
A ministry wholly devoted to the glory of God
All this eleven qualification bring a man into the ministry solely for the master’s use.
Chapter 2:
Separated life:
This Chapter talks of the life that is separated from carnality of this world and a life that fulfill the standard of separated life. Even the world expects the Christian to be different – Living like a sojourner on earth.
The separated life illustrated to be a life of separation from the following
1. Worldly Pleasures
2. Worldly Alliances
(i) Business Alliances
(ii) Lodge Alliances
(iii) Marriage Alliances - 1 Cor.7:39
3. Worldly Companions
The Secret of the separated life is said to lie in the expulsive power of new affection – in Jesus Name – Amen
Chapter 3:
The Supreme Test:
This was based on the test of our commitment to saving humanity from utter destruction through the love of Jesus Christ.
The Supreme test was said to be carried out by Jesus question to his disciples by asking them “Love thou me?” This is question is said to be the supreme test of our spiritual life.
Following our explained as mean of supreme test of our faith in the great commission.
(i) The supreme test of discipleship
(ii) The supreme test of conduct
(iii) The supreme test of service
The chapter close with the question “Lovest thou me?” posing it that if Jesus Christ come and ask us how chat will be our response
Chapter 4:
What does God think of me?
This chapter emphasize the importance of God’s perception of our work, social Relationship Devotional life and our Christian progress.
Emphasizing that we should live in a way that makes God able to testify of our work.
Chapter 5:
The sanctified life:
This chapter in order to really bring into proper perspective what sanctification means explain the following things that sanctification is not:
(1) It is not freedom from temptation
(2) It is not a guarantee of safety from possibility of sin and
(3) Thirdly, it is not a gradual deliverance from sin.
And goes further to say what sanctification are:
(1) An instantaneous crisis experience
(2) It is a life of victory over sin
(3) It is a life – long transformation into Christ likeness. 2 Cor.3:18
Three Steps to sanctification are explained under:
(1) Separation
(2) Dedication
(3) Filling all of which there is God – part action and man-part action
Chapter 6:
The Lordship of Jesus:
This chapter under this title explains what it means to truly submit under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Explaining that it is possible to be saved and not yet a disciple of Christ. Putting “God First “and “Renunciation” of all self acclamations.
Laying down willingly on God’s alter the following:
(1) Self
(2) Loved Ones
(3) Talents
(4) Time
(5) Money
(6) My unknown future
Making Jesus “Lord of All” in our life or not Lord at all for no man can serve two masters with equal dedication.
Chapter 7:
Our Most Important Work:
This emphasize that God’s most important commission to us is soul winning, which thus attract the most attack by the devil, “ Side tracked by the devil”.
Chapter 8:
The Investment of life:
We are told in this chapter that in order for us to get to the thing that God has destined for us we need to start doing all to ward the advancement of God’s kingdom.
Service should be the highest motive of our walk with God filling-in on areas of need in the work of the ministry.
Chapter 9:
Go and Tell Others:
These chapters under this heading explained the commission that Christ has giving to us to let others know about the inheritance of the kingdom because of:
(i) What we have
(ii) What they need
(iii) There is danger if we fail
Chapter 10:
Seven Question of Vital Importance:
This chapter posed seven questions that are important for us to ask ourselves in order not to imperil one’s Spiritual life. These questions are:
1. Am I committing any known sin?
2. Am I living in obedience to God’s will?
3. Am I spending time each day in prayer?
4. Am I a diligent student of God’s Word?
5. Am I confessing Christ publicly?
6. Am I giving liberally as God prospers me?
7. Am I doing something definite for the Lord Jesus Christ?
These, then are the questions that must be faced if we are to receive his approbation.
Chapter 11:
The Fourfold Need of the new life:
This chapter put into perspective the need of a newly consecrated life in Christ. This need are explained under the following headings
(1) Food (Word of God)
(2) Fellowship
(3) Exercise
(4) Atmosphere
Chapter 12:
The Morning Watch:
The morning devotion is put in perspective here. The importance was stressed and the three hindrances to this life giving devotions are giving with solutions:
Hindrances to the morning watch are:
(1) Interruptions
(2) Drowsiness
(3) Wandering thoughts
Chapter 13:
How to live for God:
As a born-again Christian who is saved the following is recommended here:
1. Be sure of your salvation
2. Take a public stand for Christ
3. Turn from all you know to be wrong
4. Spend much time in Bible study and Prayer.
5. Keep busy in the service of God
Chapter 14:
What Happens When a Christian Sins?
This chapter explains what happens when a Christian sin and the way sin should be handled and the panacea against sin are explained.
1. The Christian does not praise sin 1 John 3:6,8&9
2. But he may fail into sin 1 John 2:1-2
3. If he sins God will not disinherit him and cast him out. John 6:37
4. Fellowship has been broken but confession restores it. 1John 1:9
5. Thus the Christian judges himself. If he does not he could be judged of God. 1 Cor. 11:27-32
6. Walking in the light procures daily cleansing.
Chapter 15:
The Victorious Life:
These chapters establish sin as a major contender with the victory that we have in Christ Jesus 1 Cor. 15:57.
Sin is explained under the inward and outward sin Inward sin is explained to be sin like murder, drunkenness and adultery with which we are familiar while
Outward sin are sins like unforgiveness, hatred, anxiety, grudge-bearing, malice etc
Which we don’t often consider as sin.
This chapter established that Jesus can keep us in perpetual victory over sin.
Sin confessed is sin forgiven. Confess your failure to God. Ask him to forgive you. Tell him you want to be victorious. Then start again
Chapter 16:
Worldly wisdom or Divine power:
This chapter analysed the danger of Christians depending on education and worldly wisdom instead of God’s wisdom and dynamics, 1 Sam. 5:11. For the word of God is sure and can not be voided by anything, so it is the main thing and not anything else.
Chapter 17:
Highest form of Christian Service:
The highest form of Christian Service is said to be intercessory Prayer.
Standing on praying ground for others. Having the burden for other people.
This is the prayer for others.
It is the hardest kind of work
It is also the most effective weapon
It is the high-water Spiritual experience.
It is God’s mighty instrument
Intercessory prayer is God’s all powerful agency for the outpouring of the spirit.
He who would preach powerfully must pray effectively.
To prevail with God is to prevail with man
Chapter 18:
“Take heed unto thyself” 1Tim.4:16
This chapter emphasizes the importance of the right standing of the man of God because what the preacher is, his congregation will be.
In conclusion the book stress that to get the best of God, we must give him our best, to become men and women after God’s heart we must let him have our undivided attention. To win we must surrender. To live we must die. To receive we must give.

Chapter 1:
Devoted yourself to Jesus:
This Chapter stress that the man God will use has to be faithful to one purpose, one calling and one destiny. Proverbs 16:1
Starting that when you be give ministers, take yourself people to think independently without relying on you for instructions. Don’t be a leader who tries to control people, to not limit your people but provide a creative environment for them to take the initiative.
Chapter 2:
Personal Holiness through the Holiness of Jesus:
This chapter talks about how individual can be after mind live a pure, holy and Godly life decide to honour, love and value other people, and to live a life that reflects Christ to others.
Stressing the power of influence that our life has on other people.
A large tree never falls alone. It always takes other trees along with it This means that the devil is interested in attacking and destroying great people, who are significant in the spiritual world.
Don’t use worldly method or apply human force to prevent sin.
Chapter 3:
Prayer – The key to the Radiance of God’s Glory:
This chapter emphasizes the importance of prayer in functioning in the anointing. Starting that the closer you are to Jesus in prayer, in the word and in fellowship with him, the creator his character, anointing and his abilities will be manifested in you.
Stating the importance of leaning how to pray with all your heart, applying all your energy to concentrate on one specific goal.
Chapter 4:
The word of God – the key to knowing God:
Summarizing the chapter means saying the word in your head is the word that you know, but the word in your heart is the word you live by. If you have problems in your life, take the word and delve deep into it. It will show you what to do and will help you get free of problems and oppression because the word of God is quick and powerful. The word of God will help you to make clear division between your soul and spirit.
Chapter 5:
The Anointing of the Holy Spirit is the seal of a successful ministry:
The spirit of a man knows more about him than anyone else.
When you commune with the spirit of God He will reveal the secrets of God to you.
To be led by the Holy Spirit and to be totally filled with him is a privilege reserved for every believer.
Chapter 6:
Learn to Conquer by faith:
This chapter stress the importance of faith in the Christian walking slating that God respects men of faith by faith you can write your name into the history of this generation.
It also talks of how fear destroy our faith and thus the man God will use has to be a man of faith that trusts God in everything.
In conclusion, The man God uses by Oswald J. Smith and the man that God will use by Sunday Adelaja gives the rudiment of preparation for a minister that desires God’s move in their work and the basics of getting God involved in the equation of ministerial assignment
